Articles, Blogs, Forums, Communication without limits.

Developer track

One or many news sections, blogs, forums, whatever makes sense for the community.

Articles

Articles for traditional style news content. Articles presume editorial overview, correctness in grammar and research, and attribution of sources.

Blogs

Blogs, weblogs, make it simple for anyone to keep fresh content in front of community members. Blogs do not generally carry the same expectation of editorial oversight as Articles. Blogs are more like a free form, stream of consciousness outlet, for the ideas and thoughts of a single individual, in a format easily shared with others.

Forums

Forums go all the way back to the email list server days. They continue to be one of the best ways for a community to share information and interests. Two noteworthy limitation of online forums:

  • absence of layouts to drive the new user to the best information, archived and fresh
  • the time required for a new user to vet expertise expounded by participants

Combining just these three web information sharing methods into one, helps sharpen focus and speed the flow of knowledge.

And More..

Add in maps, movies, photo galleries, RSS feeds, links, documentation, whichever communication format makes the most sense.

Simple author-editor-publisher collaboration from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. That is the definition of a web communications portal.

More considerations for web portals and CMS, content management systems..
